Standing Committee Chairperson, Mrs. Satya Sharma, today inspected Ward No. 70 (Shastri Nagar). Local councilor Mr. Manoj Kumar Jindal, Deputy Commissioner of the City-Sadar Paharganj Zone, and officials from relevant departments were also present. The purpose of the inspection was to review the sanitation system, public facilities, and ongoing development work in the area and to provide necessary guidance.
During the inspection, the Standing Committee Chairman first visited the slum house in Shastri Nagar. He instructed the sanitation superintendent to ensure complete cleanliness around and inside the slum house and to prevent any foul odors, as it is located in the main market area. He also directed that the slum house be painted periodically to maintain a clean and orderly appearance.
He then directed the Assistant Commissioner, City-Sadar Paharganj Zone, to ensure regular street cleaning in the market area. He noted that a large number of street vendors in the market area were using tarpaulins of various colors, creating a chaotic market appearance. Emphasizing the need for roadside beautification, he suggested providing uniform, appropriate sheds for street vendors, ensuring a clean, orderly, and attractive sidewalk.
The Standing Committee Chairperson directed the Garden Department officials to regularly prune old, dry, and overhanging trees in the area to ensure traffic is not obstructed and the area remains safe.
During the inspection, she also directed the Deputy Health Officer to take action against non-vegetarian shops operating without valid licenses in the market area and to immediately close down shops selling non-vegetarian food in the open.
Mrs. Satya Sharma also inspected the public toilets operated by the MCD and directed them to improve the cleanliness and hygiene there so that citizens do not face any inconvenience in using these facilities.
During the inspection, she also visited Shastri Booth Park, where renovation work is underway. She directed the concerned officials to expedite the development work so that residents can use the park for morning and evening walks, exercise, and other activities.
In addition, she inspected the ongoing road construction work in the area and directed the officials to complete these works within the stipulated timeframe with quality, so that the general public does not face any inconvenience.
During the inspection, local residents also raised their concerns and suggestions with the Standing Committee Chairperson. Mrs. Satya Sharma listened to all complaints seriously and directed the concerned officials to ensure their prompt resolution.
She stated that making Delhi clean, beautiful, and organized is our priority, and for this, all departments must work in coordination and make continuous efforts to improve civic amenities.
